That being said, the last time I had a radiator leak (in a Honda lawn tractor radiator) I pulled the radiator and took it to the local shop and the guy brazed it up for a few bucks - lots cheaper than paying Honda for a brand new radiator - and probably quicker :-)

It may, temporarily, plug the leak, but it will gunk up the rest of the cooling system and reduce it's efficiency. And it is hard to clean the stuff out. In extreme cases the engine will have to be removed and torn down and the radiator, heater valve, and core replaced. In most cases a radiator leak is the result of an old radiator.

The hard part isctually just getting the area clean enough so that the solder will stick. BTW, typically, if after 20 odd years something starts to leak, it is going to leak elsewhere. Pull the radiator and spend $50 getting it resoldered and checked out. You probably ned to flushthe system anyway.
